Gangpung (Hangul:강풍), or Taren in the English dub, is a new character in Season 2 of Tobot Athlon and serves as a double main protagonist alongside Kyle Hughes. He is also known as the pilot of Athlon Tornado, Athlon Valkan and Athlon Rocky. He's an optimistic kid and inspired by his very own grandfather, seeing him winning, he was convinced that he was going to do the same and hold on to his legacy. He could be seen as stubborn, reckless and undisciplined but there is always good sides to everything, as how he's caring and tries to lift Kyle's spirits.

His grandfather helped found the Robot Dodgeball League, and Taren is determined to uphold his legacy. Very head-strong and optimistic, he almost never lets anything get to him and can be very loud and boisterous.
Taren is filled with hope and determination, though sometimes he can be stubborn in how he likes to do things, and he's quite resistant to new ideas and strategies.

He is shown to be the tallest of the team, considering that he eats healthy and trains a lot. He has red hair and red eyes.
Personality[]
He's a high-spirited and a very loud child. He always has a cheese stick one way or another and enjoys eating it. Though, in some scenes, he is stubborn and wants to continue his grandfather's legacy; which annoys both Tori and Taren. He's the most energetic and nonchalant of the Typhoon team, often not siding when Tori and Kyle get into an argument. When he was about to get kidnapped, he didn't even notice it and tried bringing one of the Bikerbros to the team.
Relationships[]
- Kyle ; Taren and Kyle are the optimistic and pessimistic dynamic. Taren comforts him and helps see positive stuff as Kyle teaches him new stuff.
- Tornado ; As a young Mindcore, Tornado looked up to Taren a lot. Watching him munch on food, he thought that if he grew up,, he'll be finally to eat food. Of course a disagreement happened, he was mad that his essence was made as a Robot. He left Taren in anger. Tornado's Mindcore was about to get hit by a billboard, but Taren saved him. Over his own body, he realized that Taren means to him and that he risked himself. Of course, the issue was resolved and Tornado learned to accept his fate and he could taste food.
